Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel membrane electrode assembly for a battery, capable of suppressing an electrolyte membrane from being broken, water-clogged or the like by dispersing local pressure due to a concavo-convex shape of a separator and a concavo-convex shape of a member, such as a metal mesh or the like, adjacent to a gas diffusion layer when a cell is assembled.SOLUTION: In a membrane electrode assembly for a battery, a gas diffusion layer for a battery is laminated on one face or both faces of a catalyst layer-electrolyte membrane laminate that includes a catalyst layer, an electrolyte membrane and a catalyst layer laminated in order therein, the gas diffusion layer for a battery including a first conductive porous layer containing a conductive carbon material and a high molecular weight polymer. The membrane electrode assembly for a battery has an in-plane maximum pressure measured by a flat-plate pressing pressure measurement method of 0.20-1.60 MPa.SELECTED DRAWING: None
