Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing high quality (meth)acrylamide by using microbial cells and/or processed microbial cells as a catalyst comprising a nitrile hydratase, and acrylamide polymers having both water-solubility and a higher molecular weight as well as an excellent hue by using the (meth)acrylamide.SOLUTION: Provided herein is a method for producing (meth)acrylamide comprising the steps of: culturing a host cell transformed with a vector comprising a gene encoding a nitrile hydratase; and carrying out hydration reaction of (meth)acrylonitrile of which crotononitrile concentration is 100 ppm or less by the using the microbial cells and/or processed cells of the microorganism comprising the nitrile hydratase. In one method for producing (meth)acrylamide, the nitrile hydratase is derived from the genus Pseudonocardia or Rhodococcus. Also provided is a (meth)acrylamide polymer obtained by homopolymerization of the (meth)acrylamide or copolymerization with an amide compound and at least one kind of copolymerizable unsaturated monomer.SELECTED DRAWING: None
