To provide a metal-ceramics composite capable of giving ≤5.0×10-6/°C coefficient of thermal expansion even if SiC powder content is ≤80 vol.%, and its manufacture.
In the metal-ceramics composite prepared by forming a preform by the use of a ceramic powder and allowing a metal to penetrate into the preform, an SiC powder is used as the ceramic powder and a preform of 60 to 80 vol.% powder filling rate is formed as the preform and, further, an Al-Si- Mg type aluminum alloy containing 10 to 30 wt.% Si is used as the metal, by which the composite material having ≤5.0×10-6/°C coefficient of thermal expansion is obtained. The composite material can be manufactured by forming a preform composed of SiC powder and having 60 to 80 vol.% powder filling rate and allowing an Al-Si-Mg type aluminum alloy containing 10 to 30 wt.% Si to penetrate into the preform.
