Abstract:
To provide a metal leaching method and a metal recovery method which can improve a leaching rate of cobalt and/or nickel while easily removing copper.SOLUTION: A method for leaching metal in battery powder containing at least copper and one or more of cobalt and nickel includes a leaching process repeated a plurality of times, wherein the leaching process includes a first leaching step of leaching the metal in the battery powder with an acidic leachate, finishing leaching before the copper is melted out, and taking out a leach residue from a leached liquid obtained by leaching, and a second leaching step of leaching the metal in the leach residue in the first leaching step with an acidic leachate, finishing the leaching after the copper is melted out, and obtaining a leached liquid, the leached liquid obtained in the second leaching step of the leaching process is used as the acidic leachate in the first leaching step of the leaching process subsequently performed after the leaching process, and at least one second leaching step of the leaching process takes out the leach residue from the leached liquid.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
