PURPOSE: To obtain a metallic painted product capable of expressing a high- grade feeling and new design effect while ensuring the uniformity of a paint film.

CONSTITUTION: Intercoating paint, base paint containing a brightening agent 120 and clear paint are successively applied to the surface of an object 10 to be coated to form a metallic painted product 1 having an intercoating layer 11, a base layer 12 and a clear layer 13. A design 2 such as a character, a figure or a pattern is formed in the metallic painted product 1. The design 2 is formed on the surface of the intercoating layer 11 by a viscous material 20 and the upper surface part 122 of the design and the general part 121 of a part other than the design have different orientation states of the brightening agent 120 in the base paint.
