PURPOSE: To produce a metallic porous material having high porosity, high strength and low electric resistance at a low cost by dispersing fine particles for reinforcing in a skeleton metal having three dimensional meshlike structure.
CONSTITUTION: A coating film 7 of a coating material containing at least one kind of the fine particles of a material selected from the oxide, carbide or nitride of the elements of group II-VI in Period Table (Al2O3, WC, TiN or the like) is formed on the surface of a skeleton resin 6 of a three dimensional meshlike resin porous body. A metal plated layer 8 (one of Ni, Ni alloy, Cu, Cu alloy) to be a metallic skeleton is applied on the surface of the coating film 7. Next, the metallic porous material >80% in porosity, having communicated pores and composed of the three dimensional meshlike metallic porous body having the fine particles dispersed in the skeleton metal is formed by dispersing the fine particles in the coating film 7 in the metal plated layer 8 by heat- treating and removing the skeleton resin 6 and the coating material of the main component of the coating film. As a result, the metallic porous material having ≥80% porosity and improved in strength is obtained without increasing electric resistance or cost.
