Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to stably heat by interrupting the leakage current of an eddy current to a metallic roll while preventing a spark from generating when heating the strip edge by the induction heating device using a C-type inductor.
SOLUTION: The method for absorbing the leakage current of the heating treatment device for the strip edge and absorbing devices 6a and 6b for the leakage current, are provided as follows; that is, in the induction heating device for the strip edge, using the C-type inductor, on metallic rolls 7 supporting the strip on the inlet and outlet of the inductor, a pair of short-circuit rolls 8a and 8b connected through conductors are arranged, and by bringing the short-circuit rolls 8a and 8b into press contact with tip parts on both sides of the strip to be subjected to induction heating, the leakage current of the eddy current being made to flow through the strip, is bypassed.
