Abstract:
PURPOSE: To decide belonging of an error in a short time by converting pixels of a gray scale into binary pixels, deciding the error of the pixels and combining an error variance with the pixel adjacent on a succeeding scanning line. CONSTITUTION: A processor 30 extracts a gray scale value Ii of a scanning line (n) from a RAM 36 and then converts a pixel of a gray scale into a binary pixel to decide an error of the pixel. The error is decided by finding out a difference between a binary value of the pixel and the gray scale value of the pixel before the conversion. Then a location 46 indicated by an error register 44 denotes an error of the pixel on the scanning line (n). Then the error variance belongs to a pixel which is directly adjacent to the concerned pixel and in existence on a succeeding scanning line (n+1) of a raster image and the revertable error variance is stored.
