PURPOSE: To prevent a printed matter from being damaged during transportation, and to reduce generation of refuse or the like at the time of sending the printed matter, by packing the printer matter at a bottom of a rigid container suitable for a format of the printed matter to store intermediary the printed matter together with the container or to send it to a distributor or the like.

CONSTITUTION: A container 26 is formed into a shape suitable for a format of a printed matter, being constituted by side parts 62, 64, 66, 68 forming an obtuse angle with respect to its bottom, and a mounting face 70 is formed in the bottom. Free spaces are partitioned respectively among the side parts 64, 68, the printed matter mounted on the mounting face 70, and the side parts 62, 66 to facilitate taking-out for the printed matter. The printed matter on a conveyer 16 is supplied to a folding machine 18 to form a printer matter stack 25. The stack 25 is stored in the container 26 arranged below a supply shaft 20. The container 26 is transferred to a carrying conveyer by a transfer device 32 after filled, and is transported to an intermediary storage house, a distributor or the like. The container 26 is conveyed to a packing area after the printed matter is taken out from the container 26 in the distributor or the like.
