Abstract:

To provide a method and an apparatus for improving administration of drugs through the use of heat and other physical means.

The method and the device relate to the use of heat and other physical means in conjunction with a specially designed dermal drug delivery system (DDDS) 120, conventional commercial dermal drug delivery system, or drugs delivered into a sub-skin depot site via injection and other methods to alter, mainly increase, the drug release rate from the dermal drug delivery system 120 or the depot sites. A housing 122 is equipped with a side wall 124 and a top wall 126 and a drug preparation substance 128 is placed inside the housing 122. The bottom part of the DDDS side wall 124 preferably includes an adhesive 132 to fix the DDDS 120 to the skin of a patient.
