To provide a technique which, when a contact lens is manufactured by a cast molding method, easily improves a separation success rate at separation of a pair of forming molds in a mold release process.
A method for manufacturing a contact lens comprises a forming process of forming an FC-mold 11 for forming a front curve of a contact lens and a BC-mold 12 for forming a base curve thereof, an injection process of injecting a polymerizable monomer 15, which forms a substrate of a contact lens, into the FC-mold 11, an assembly process of combining the FC-mold 11 with the BC-mold 12, a polymerization process of polymerizing the monomer 15, and a mold release process of separating the FC-mold 11 and the BC-mold 12 from each other after the polymerization process and making a contact lens adhering to the FC-mold 11 fall with gravity. When transferring from the polymerization process to the mold release process, the contact lens polymerized in the polymerization process is made to adhere to the FC-mold 11 in the mold release process by suppressing temperature change of the FC-mold 11 and the BC-mold 12 from a polymerization completion temperature in the polymerization process.
