To provide a method and an apparatus for monitoring the maximum effective capacity of a battery, and to provide an uninterruptible power supply capable of predicting an operation time of a battery at the present time.
For the aforementioned purpose, a method becomes available where a plurality of diversified values of discharge termination voltage are first prepared. Next, a battery is discharged and a discharge termination voltage value where the battery becomes a discharged state is obtained. Then a counter read value of a counter allocated to the obtained discharge termination voltage value is incremented. These steps are repeated to the whole process of discharge. Then the counter read value for each counter is read and a first factor indicating an index for a degradation of a maximum effective capacity of a battery is obtained as a function of the counter read value thus read out.
