To provide a production method and its apparatus with which a high quality magnesium strip can continuously and stably be produced.
In the method for producing the magnesium strip 16, molten magnesium alloy M obtained with a melting furnace 1 is supplied into a tundish 2 and the molten magnesium alloy M supplied from the tundish 2 is continuously cast and rolled with rolling rolls 6. The molten magnesium alloy quantity supplied into the tundish 2 from the melting furnace 1 is made more than the molten metal quantity supplied into the rolling rolls 6 from the tundish 2, and the excessive molten metal quantity in the tundish 2 is returned back to the melting furnace 1, and the molten metal M is circulated between the melting furnace 1 and the tundish 2 while producing the magnesium strip 16 with the rolling rolls 6. The supply pressure of the molten metal into the rolling rolls can be made a fixed value by holding the surface level of the molten magnesium alloy in the tundish to a fixed value and thus, the high quality magnesium strip can continuously and stably be produced.
