Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for producing a 1-4C saturated carboxylic acid, capable of obtaining a high acid yield and producing a by- product as an high-value-added substance.
SOLUTION: When a reaction outlet gas is partially returned during reaction gas circulation and acid concentration in content returned by a separation process is decreased, a saturated or unsaturated 4C hydrocarbon or a mixture thereof is subjected to vapor phase oxidation in the presence of an oxygen- containing gas and steam at temperature of 100-400°C reaction temperature under a pressure of 1.2×105 Pa to 51×05 Pa by using at least one catalyst to produce a 1-4C saturated carboxylic acid. In the production method, a crude acid is separated from reaction outlet gas by counterflow cleaning. Thereby, high selectivity is obtained and necessary energy consumption is decreased and high passive safety against danger of explosion is obtained and whole process execution can simply be formed thereby.
