Abstract:

To provide means for oxidizing a chemical substance in gas efficiently and selectively by effectively utilizing activated oxygen in a solid.

A method for treating the chemical substance treats the chemical substance by promoting an oxidation reaction in gas with the activated oxygen generated by applying voltage to a material which can generate the activated oxygen on the surface and/or in the gas phase. Further, as the material which can generate the activated oxygen on the surface and/or in the gas phase, the method uses a material having a nanocage structure or a function capable of holding the activated oxygen in a lattice defect. Thus, the activated oxygen which can be provided to a chemical reaction can be generated efficiently and selectively.
