To provide a fluorine removal method and apparatus which enable the removal of fluorine in water to a low concentration with a simple apparatus, generate a small amount of flocculates, and can recycle the flocculates.
The fluorine removal method comprises an electrolysis step where fluorine-containing water W is flowed into an electrolytic cell 31, a direct current is impressed to aluminum electrodes 32, and fluorine in the water W and aluminum of a positive electrode reacts with each other to generate suspended particles of aluminum fluoride, a flocculation step where the water W after the electrolysis step is flowed into flocculation tanks 41, 61, and flocculants F1, F2 are added to the water W to flocculate the suspended particles of aluminum fluoride into coarse flocculates of aluminum fluoride, and a separation step where the water W after the flocculation step is flowed into a separation tank 51 to separate the flocculates of aluminum fluoride in the water W by floatation.
