To provide a method and an apparatus for enabling even an unskilled person to perform a work for measuring the dimensions of a bend pipe and designating a marking (cutting) position thereof accurately in a short time.
A frequency swept high frequency laser is irradiated from a scanner head 1 while scanning a bend pipe 7 in the radial and longitudinal directions. A reflection signal from the bend pipe 7 is taken into a control analyzer 2, production data of the bend pipe 7 is obtained and displayed on the screens of monitors 3 and 4 along with the two-dimensional or three- dimensional image of the bend pipe 7 in order to determine the cutting position of the bend pipe. Cutting position of the bend pipe 7 is designated by means of a visible laser.
