Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve bleaching of a craft pulp by treating an incompletely washed brownstock with a specified hemicellulase under specified conditions.
CONSTITUTION: Delignification treatment of an incompletely washed brownstock is carried out with a hemicellulase enzyme preparation that has a pH optimum below 6.0 at pH of 6.0-9.0. A low cellulase content of the hemicellulase enzyme preparation such that not more than about 10,000 FPU, preferably not more than about 500 FPU, per ton of the pulp is acted.
