To solve a problem that an image formed on a photoreceptor is distorted, because optical axis directions of lenses formed in a pair of lens arrays are deviated due to relative tilt in the pair of lens arrays.
In the method for assembling the optical unit, first flat surfaces S1 and S2 of the lens array 80 having the first flat surfaces S1 and S2 orthogonal or nearly orthogonal to the optical axis direction D3 of the lens 60 and grinding surfaces F2 and F4 of spacers 81 and 82 are joined with an adhesive, and grinding surfaces F1 and F3 opposed in parallel to the grinding surfaces F2 and F4 of the spacers 81 and 82 and a second flat surface S3 of the lens array 83 having the second flat surface S3 orthogonal or nearly orthogonal to the optical axis direction D3 of the lens 61 are joined with an adhesive.
