The method for cleaning the liquid droplet discharging head 41 wipes a functional fluid sticking to the nozzle surface 48 by feeding the wiping sheet 112 uniformly impregnated with the cleaning liquid in a specified direction in such a manner that the sheet 112 is pressed to the nozzle 48 of the liquid droplet discharging head 41. The wiping sheet 112 is impregnated with the cleaning liquid to such an extent that the impregnation state is beyond a surface wet level and below a saturated impregnation level.
