Abstract:

To provide a method for making harmless by decomposing, without spending much plant cost and operation cost, refractory material contained in water contaminated by the refractory material such as polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins discharged from incineration facilities and the like of municipal refuse and inductrial solid waste.

In a method for cleaning contaminated water by making harmless by decomposing the refractory material in water contaminated by the refractory material to be selected from the group consisting of PCDDs, PCBs, phenols, bisphenol A, phthalic esters and a pigment, a refractory material- decomposing microbe wherein a refractory material-decomposing enzyme fixed to a carrier and/or the carrier are allowed to coexist, is brought in contact with the water contaminated by the refractory material.
