To provide a method of concentrating nickel for effectively and efficiently concentrating nickel in low-nickel-grade nickel oxide ore, recovering nickel at a high recovery rate, and enabling use of the nickel as a raw material for ferronickel smelting.
The method includes: a sieving step S1 of sieving the nickel oxide ore using a sieve with a predetermined aperture; a drying step S2 of drying the nickel oxide ore on the sieve; a crushing and sieving step S3 of crushing the dried nickel oxide and sieving the nickel oxide ore using a sieve with an aperture smaller than that of the sieve used at the sieving step S1; and a recovering step S4 of recovering the nickel oxide ore having passed through the sieve at the sieving step S1 and the nickel oxide ore having passed through the sieve at the crushing and sieving step S3 as a nickel concentrate, wherein the nickel oxide ore is crushed at the crushing and sieving step S3 such that a weight ratio of the crushed product is 40-85%.
