Title:
METHOD FOR CONTINUOUSLY CASTING MOLTEN METAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3796130
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problem that a surface characteristic improving effect of a cast slab is reduced by obstructing to the effect of an electromagnetic force impression caused by disturbance to a meniscus in a molten metal pool, in the case of being a large cross sectional mold and giving the electromagnetic force as pulse state.
SOLUTION: When the casting is performed while changing the meniscus shape by disposing a solenoid type electromagnetic coil so as to surround the mold having flat rectangular cross sectional shape or embedding into the mold wall and supplying AC current into the solenoid type electromagnetic coil to give the electromagnetic force to the molten metal in the mold, DC current magnetic field shown in the following formula, is overlapped. 0.4≤BDC/BAC≤6.5 (Wherein, BDC: the maximum value of the DC magnetic flux density in the mold and BAC: the maximum value of the AC magnetic flux density in the mold). Further, the casting is performed while periodically changing the supplied AC current into a large current supplying period and a small current supplying period.
