Abstract:

To restrain the generation of troubles of oxidization of an ignition plug and the surface of a combustion chamber by the ozone generated by the reaction of the oxygen in the air with plasma or the radicals produced by the reaction thereof with the ozone in a spark-ignition internal combustion engine in which a spark discharge by the ignition plug is reacted with the field generated in the combustion chamber to generate and react plasma for igniting an air-fuel mixture.

When fuel is supplied while a vehicle is traveling, the electric field generated in the combustion chamber is reacted with the spark discharge by the ignition plug to generate plasma for igniting the air-fuel mixture. When the supply of fuel is interrupted while the vehicle is traveling, the generation of plasma is stopped.
