METHOD FOR CONTROLLING TERMINAL BAKING OF COKE FOR BLAST FURNACE BY QUALITY EVALUATION

Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce variation in quality, optimize baking conditions, and thus improve quality by sampling coke discharged from coke dry-quenching equipment(CDQ), feeding the resulting inspection data back to baking conditions, thereby controlling at least one condition selected from the time, temp., and pattern of baking.

CONSTITUTION: A semicoke pushed out of a coke oven chamber of a chamber oven at a coke temp. at a center of the chamber of 600-900°C is introduced into the prechamber of CDQ, where a combustible gas remaining in the semicoke is burned by introducing air into the prechamber and the semicoke is baked, thus giving a blast furnace coke. In this process, at least one baking condition selected from the time, temp., and pattern of baking is controlled by automatically sampling on-line a discharged coke at a cooled-coke discharge section of the CDQ, testing the qualities, and feeding the test results back to the baking conditions in the prechamber. Test items are true density, DI15015 strength (drum strength), CSR(coke strength after the reaction with CO2), and their corelation values.
