A method of cooling exhaust gas is so arranged as to form a fluid curtain at a higher temperature than the dew point of a malodorant contained in the above exhaust gas or cooling water at an inwall face, by supplying a part of the exhaust gas along the inwall face of a cooling tower main body 4 when cooling the exhaust gas with an exhaust gas cooling tower 3 which has an exhaust gas supply port 7, a cooling water supply means 9 for spraying cooling water to the supplied exhaust gas, and a discharge port 8 for cooled exhaust gas.
