Abstract:
To provide a method for cutting plastic optical fiber, and a cutter for a plastic optical fiber, which enable simple and stable cutting regardless of the skill of a worker, and reduce the force acting in cutting direction to suppress roughening of a cutting plane, for reducing a transmission loss.
First, a coating layer and a cladding layer of a plastic optical fiber 11 are cut, and a notch 16 is formed over the whole of outer periphery of the core layer. Then, the plastic optical fiber 11 is pulled in strand direction to cut the plastic optical fiber 11.
