Abstract:
To provide a method for safely and efficiently decomposing a difficultly decomposable fluorinated carboxylic acid or ions thereof, especially, a perfluorocarboxylic acid (e.g., trifluoroacetic acid) or ions thereof.
The difficultly decomposable fluorinated carboxylic acid is decomposed by irradiation with light in the presence of peroxodisulfuric acid or peroxodisulfate ions or in the presence of sulfate radical anions.
