Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method for the decomposition treatment of a halogen-containing organic compound which is an environmental pollutant.
SOLUTION: During a dehalogenation reaction of the halogen-containing organic compound using a hydrogenation catalyst or hydrogen gas, a halogen removing agent is added in the reaction system to remove a toxic gas, such as a hydrogen halide, generated during the reaction by immobilization. By this method, the life span of the catalyst can be extended and an efficient decomposition of the halogen-containing organic compound can be performed.
