Abstract:

To provide a method for determining presence or absence of medullary thyroid cancer, which can specifically detect medullary thyroid cancer.

A method for determining presence or absence of medullary thyroid cancer uses a method having a process (a) for detecting expression of a splicing variant of CEACAM4 gene such as a cDNA composed of a specific base sequence in a sample for determination or the splicing variant such as a protein composed of an amino acid sequence encoded by the base sequence, etc., and a process (b) for evaluating that possibility of a sample donor for determination having medullary thyroid cancer is high when the expression of the splicing variant of CEACAM4 gene or a protein encoded by the splicing variant is detected in the process (a).
