To provide a method of carrying out circular grinding, according to which positive and correct circular grinding of a workpiece having a sharp transition edge is achieved in a gap between two rotary symmetric planes without burrs even in bulk continuous production, and to provide a device for carrying out the circular grinding.
According to the method, an auxiliary abrasive tool 154 rotating about an auxiliary tool axis 153 is pressed to the workpiece 118 during grinding work. The auxiliary abrasive tool 154 is pressed to the workpiece 118 such that an abrasive surface protrudes from a second workpiece surface 113 in a direction of a contact surface 109 occurring between the abrasive surface and the second workpiece surface 113 over the transition edge 119. Thus burrs occurring around the transition edge 119 during the grinding of a first workpiece surface 117 is removed by the auxiliary abrasive tool 154.
