Abstract:
To reduce PN generated in an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: In an internal combustion engine 1, fuel is injected into a combustion chamber 4 from a fuel injection valve 9 in a compression stroke during cooling of the internal combustion engine so that a distal end of a fuel spray reaches the vicinity of a boundary between a cylinder inner wall surface 3 and a piston 2. Accordingly, the distal end of the fuel spray reaches the vicinity of the boundary between the cylinder inner wall surface 3 and the piston 2, and thereby, the internal combustion engine 1 can reduce fuel adhesion onto a wall surface (a piston crown surface 2a and the cylinder inner wall surface 3), and can reduce PN (particulate number).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
