Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method ad a device for correcting an extraction region of distance measuring information extracted from range data in order to provide a two-dimensional map graphic form with height information with high accuracy.
SOLUTION: A processing object region and a processing object graphic form are first received from an operator. The height difference from a point adjacent to an object point is then computed from height information obtained from the range data, and a feature quantity of a height difference pattern satisfying a certain fixed condition is computed to correct the extraction region of range data using the feature quantity. To correct the extraction region, the processing object graphic form and the computed feature quantity are used to compute the candidate of the moving quantity on how much the extraction region of range data should be deformed, and the moving quantity is determined from the computed candidate of the moving quantity to correct the extraction region. The height information of the processing object graphic form is computed from the corrected extraction region of range data, and the computed result is stored in a three-dimensional map database.
