Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method and device used with a gas turbine engine for propelling an aircraft, whereby foreign matter such as ice and debris is removed from a core flow path located near the inlet to the compressor of the engine and cast out to a lateral flow path.

CONSTITUTION: A slidable scoop 45 in a special form is installed between the outlet from a pressure booster of a gas turbine engine and the inlet to its compressor. An actuator mechanism 32 is coupled with this scoop 45 through a link mechanism 40, and the scoop 45 is located in a primary flow path when the output is low, and is retreated from the core flow path when the output is high.
