Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved error detection technology used to process digital audio information received by a digital communication system or information of other types.
SOLUTION: To control the generation of an error indicator for a packet, control information relating to a given packet of received information is specified and compared with the decoding condition of the packet. More specifically, the error indicator can be generated according to the inconsistency between the control information and decoding condition. For example, when arbitrary inconsistency between a packet length indication and the necessary number of bits results in the generation of an error flag for the packet, the control information possibly includes an indication of packet length which can be compared with the number of bits needed to decode the corresponding packet. This invention is used suitably, specially, for the processing of encoded digital audio information received by a hybrid in-band on-channel (HIBOC) digital audio broadcasting(DAB) system, but applicable to information of other types and communication systems of other types.
