Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method in which a plate of hardly plastic working metal material can be manufactured by casting without developing casting defect and provide a device being suitable for this manufacturing method.
CONSTITUTION: Plural pieces of heating electrodes 1 for vacuum melting are arranged in series in a vacuum chamber and an electric conductive vessel 3 housed with the hardly plastic working metal material 4 is arranged below the electrodes. While discharging the electrodes, the vessel is relatively moved to the direction crossing at the right angle to the electrode line, and by executing the melting and the solidification of the metal material in the vessel, the plate is manufactured. A convergent coil converging the discharging arc is provided at the side part of a space executing the discharge. By this method, the plate of the hardly plastic working metal material without any casting defect can be cast and the wastefulness of the material is reduced. Since the convergent coil is provided, the arc length can be prolonged and the trouble that the electrode is in contact with the molten metal can be eliminated and the plate of the hardly plastic working metal material having a high quality can be manufactured.
