To provide a method and device for manufacturing a fixed abrasive grain type saw wire that can restrain variations in the amount of abrasive grains stuck to the outer surface of the wire and uniformize the distribution of abrasive grains stuck, even if abrasive grains are densified or a highly efficient form of feeding wire such as the wire being run a round trip or the like is provided.
There are provided: a plating bath 16A wherein a plating liquid M1 containing abrasive grain D; a wire feed-out means 2 that passes the wire W through within the plating liquid M1; an electric current supply means 3 that supplies electric current to the wire W and plating liquid M1; an abrasive grain amount calculating means 4 that figures out the amount of abrasive grains D stuck to the outer surface of the wire W that has been passed through the plating liquid M1; and an electric current value control means 5 which, based on the calculated amount of abrasive grains, increases or decreases the value of the current that runs through the wire W in the plating liquid M1, the current being supplied by the electric current supply means 3, so that the variations of the abrasive grains stuck to the outer surface of the wire can be regulated so as for the amount of the abrasive grains to be stuck thereto is brought to come within a predetermined range.
