PURPOSE: To stabilize a pressing pressure, to prevent the damages of a pressed face and the lower internal part thereof and to guarantee the sure fixture of a polishing body, by pressing the whole outer peripheral area of the stamper back face by the elastic member provided on the lower side face of a press jig in case of polishing the stamper back face.

CONSTITUTION: The whole outer peripheral zone of the stamper back face is pressed without any gap in the circumferential direction together with a glass original board 16 by a press jig 5, when the stamper back face located on the glass original board 16 installed on a rotating turn table 2 is polished, after the electrocast stage of forming the recording face of an optical recording medium. The internal area of the press jig 5 is then polished while water is feeding from a feed pipe 14 and the polishing waste liquid containing polishing chips is radially drained passing over the press jig 5.
