To provide a method for processing a rope end of an elevator capable of applying to wire ropes of various kinds of diameters and easily performing end processing of the wire rope using a swaging metal fitting at an installation site of the elevator.
A portable processing device 1 is conveyed to the site of the elevator, and a socket 3 of the swaging metal fitting is press-fitted and fixed to one end part of the wire rope 2. At this time, core steel in the one end part of the wire rope 2 is replaced with metal core metal. The one end part of the wire rope 2 is inserted into a hollow part of the socket 3 from one end part side of the socket 3. Subsequently, a plurality number of times of pressing are performed from the one end part of the socket 3 toward the other end part side by the processing device 1, and the socket 3 is fixed to the one end part of the wire rope 2.
