To solve problems that utilizing efficiency of a raw material is low, because unnecessary parts of a crystal article are removed in each process of forming processes, i.e., dividing, removing of corner parts and polishing and these processes take a long time, thereby the production cost of an optical member becomes high.
This method of producing a crystal article comprises melting a raw material accommodated in a crucible 21 for pouring, which is provided at the upper part of a crucible 23 for growing, then pouring the molten raw material from the crucible 21 for pouring into the crucible 23 for growing, which has an inner form corresponding to the form of an optical member to be formed, lowering the crucible 23, and cooling the crucible 23 to crystallize the raw material poured into the crucible 23 for growing.
