Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve separation efficiency and to facilitate the recovery of molten zinc, by keeping the suspended dross recovered from the melt surface at a specified temp., and separating the dross and zinc by the specific gravity difference by a centrifugal separator.

CONSTITUTION: The suspended dross 10 is kept at a specified temp. where specified fluidity can be maintained, and charged from a charging pipe 11 onto a partition plate 2 in an upper vessel 5 provided into the rotary vessel 1 rotating at a high speed. The dross 22 having lower sp.gr. than zinc 21 in the suspended dross 10 is floated up to the surface of molten zinc 21 by the centrifugal force, and separated. At this time, the zinc 21 flows down into a lower vessel 6 through a communicating hole 7, and the layer of molten zinc 21 on the same level as in the upper vessel 5 is formed. The suspended dross 10 is simultaneously charged and separated, hence the layer of molten zinc 21 and the layer of dross 22 are increased, and the dross 22 overflows an upper weir 8 and is discharged to the outside from a discharge port 15 for dross 22. Besides the zinc 21 overflows a lower weir 9, and is discharged from a discharge port 17 for zinc 21 and recovered from an outlet 20.
