PURPOSE: To automatically change to the adjusted acoustic characteristic by reading TOC information of a recording medium, storing it with the acoustic characteristic selected by a listener in a storage means, and reproducing the recording medium according to the storage contents.

CONSTITUTION: A system microcomputer 1 is provided with a RAM storing the TOC (Table of Contents) information, the order of piece of music, and the acoustic characteristic. A listener directly controls a panel control section 2 which sets and changes the acoustic characteristic. It is provided with a microcomputer 3 controlling DSP(digital signal processor) or the like. It reads the TOC information of a CD source and it is stored in the RAM in a system microcomputer 1 with the acoustic characteristic selected by the listner, and the CD source is reproduced based on the acoustic characteristic stored in the RAM. Thus, the acoustic sound is reproduced based on the acoustic characteristic stored with the TOC information and when the CD source or the piece of music is changed, the acoustic characteristic is automatically adjusted by the listner.
