Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method and a device for separating sheet-type recording media capable of surely separating sheet-type recording media of different stiffnesses without requiring adjustment of the device and being fabricated at a low cost.
CONSTITUTION: In order to separate sheet-type recording media 14 of different stiffnesses from a stack, a paper separating roller 20 acts by friction on the current first sheet of the stack to push it against a ramp 18 and lift the sheet up from the stack along this ramp 18. Since the paper separating roller 20 is mounted in freely movable manner in a plane parallel to the plane of the stack, the paper separating roller 20, as a function of the stiffness of the recording medium 14 on the stack, rolls over the ramp 18, until the front edge of the sheet comes into contact with the ramp 18 for the paper separation, to be separated therefrom. Thereby, the paper separating roller 20 is automatically adjusted at a distance from the ramp 18 that is optimum for the stiffness of each of the recording media 14.
