To provide a method for driving an electrophoretic display, which doesn't bring about persistence in a half-tone image, and an electrophoretic display.
In the method for driving an electrophoretic display which includes: a display part wherein an electrophoretic element containing electrophoretic particles is held between a first substrate and a second substrate and a plurality of pixels are arranged; pixel electrodes formed on the electrophoretic element side of the first substrate correspondingly to respective pixels; and a common electrode formed on the electrophoretic element side of the second substrate and facing the plurality of first electrodes, an image display step of displaying an image on the display part includes a half-tone display step S103 of inputting a first pulse periodically alternating between a first potential and a second potential to the common electrode while inputting a second pulse having a wider pulse width than the first pulse and alternating between the first potential and the second potential to the pixel electrodes.
