To carry out processing of feather efficiently in a short time without causing effects of harmful gases to recover a high quality fertilizer or a high quality feed each having a high pepsin digestion ratio.
This feather drying method involves steps of attriting feather discharged out of a chicken plant by an attritor, throwing the attrited feather to a preliminary treatment tank to heat the attrited feather, sending the attrited feather to a cooker, which is an oil-warming vacuum dryer, to heat the attritred feather at the oil temperature, and carrying out vacuum-dewatering under 3-step pressure reducing conditions and removing oil to powder the feather. Feather as a raw material, mixed with soybean curd refuse (Okara), may be subjected to recover a fertilizer or feed by the feather drying method.
