Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To meet the requirements for the easiness of replacement, long life and compactness required for a contact technique in an electrical interconnect mechanism.SOLUTION: A method and an electrical interconnect mechanism are disclosed, in which elastomeric pins 5 are printed onto metal retainer tabs 2 and have at least one protrusion or tab 2 extending laterally therefrom to engage a catch 3 or recess of the laminated housing 4, and which are arranged so that the elastomeric pins 5 are to be put and secured in the housing 4. A chamfered portion 6 may be employed together with the catch 3 or recess to secure, by an engagement manner, a second protrusion or tab 2 extending laterally from another side of the elastomeric pin 5. The elastomeric pin 5 may have a solid metal ring or a slide collar around a center portion of the pin 5, in which the ring has one or more tabs 2 for engaging the recess in the housing and if preferred also the recess of the chamfered portion 6.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
