Abstract:
To provide a method for forming a glaze layer to impart excellent antibacterial mildew-proof property on the surface of a pottery or a substrate of an enamel product.
A water-based slurry containing a silver-containing substance and a glaze is applied on the surface of a pottery substrate or the substrate of an enamel product and calcined to form a calcined surface layer containing 0.01 to 1 wt.% of the silver-containing substance in terms of metal silver, with the calcined product of the silver-containing substance included in the crystal phase or the glass phase of the calcined surface layer.
