Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select the number and dimension of dimples, to arrange the dimples in disorder on a golf ball or on the section and to move them in plural stages until arrangement for reducing the overlap of the dimples to a desired minimum amount is attained.
SOLUTION: On the surface of this golf ball, by selecting the fixed number of the dimples 11, 12 and 13, arranging the dimples at the disorderly places at random of one selected section regardless of the other present dimples on the computer model of the golf ball and discriminating the respective dimples and adjacent dimples overlapped on the dimples, dimple arrangement is generated. For the respective dimples discriminated in such a manner, the entire components of the overlap in a latitude direction and a longitude direction are calculated, the overlap is minimized by rearranging the center of the respective dimples and the stages of discrimination, calculation and rearrangement are repeated for the respective dimples until the entire overlap is reduced to a prescribed amount.
