PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a substrate for a floor-polish capable of providing a superior film by cross-linking at a room temperature in a short period by cross-linking a carboxyl group of a polymer having a carboxyl group in an aqueous emulsion with a calcium ion in the presence of a specific compound.
SOLUTION: A carboxyl group of (A) an aqueous emulsion or an aqueous dispersion of a polymer selected from α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid-based polymer containing a carboxylic acid and an aqueous urethane-based polymer is calcium cross-linked by adding (B) an alkali metal hydroxide (e.g. sodium hydroxide) and (C) a compound releasing calcium ion to the component A in the method for producing a substrate for floor-polish. The component C is preferably a calcium hydroxide powder or a calcium oxide powder having 10-300μm average particle diameter. The powder of the calcium hydroxide or the calcium oxide is preferably used as an aqueous dispersion obtained by dispersing the powder in water by using a surfactant. The cross-linking reaction is preferably performed at a room temperature under stirring.
