Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the unit consumption of roll by reducing the amount of grinding in an off-line roll shop.
SOLUTION: At the time of grinding with an on-line roll grinder 20 during rolling, the actual amount of grinding is stored. After that, in drawing out the rolling roll 1 from a rolling mill and executing off-line grinding in the roll shop, the depth of the remaining fatigued layer of the rolling roll 1 is determined by subtracting the stored amount of grinding from the depth of the fatigued layer that is determined corresponding to the rolling load and the depth of the remaining fatigued layer is off-line ground. Excess grinding by double grinding in the roll shop is prevented and the unit consumption of roll is improved.
